Catalogue Général of Egyptian Antiquities in the Cairo Museum
Salima Ikram and Nasry Iskander
The original publication of the non-human mummies displayed in the Egyptian Museum is the Catalogue General: La Faune
Momifiee de l’ Antique Egypte, by C. Gaillard and G. Daressy (1905). That catalogue no longer reflects the nonhuman
mummied collection at the Egyptian Museum as several nonhuman mummies have joined the collection during the course of the last century. Furthermore several mummies listed in the original catalogue have been deaccessioned and sent to the Archaeological Museum in Dokki (mainly in the 1930s), the Mummification Museum in Luxor (in the 1990s), as well as to
other provincial museums.
