توصيف الموقع :

Throughout the ages, the Nile River has always been an important way of transportation from north to south. Artifacts and stones were transferred onboard ships from the quarries in the south to the temples, tombs and other constructions in the north. The two sites of Aswan and Gebel El Silsila are famous of the granite quarries while the second site is also famous of the sandstone. The Nile reserved the remains of the sunken ships with all its cargoes or what had been lost during the transport operations. A rock platform was found in front of the northern quarry where the ships dock. In front of the southern quarry, round sandstone blocks were found which were probably used as a platform to serve the quarry. Among the archeological sites in this area is Marsa El Ahali which was probably the main harbor to Elephantine  Island and the site of ferry boat of the eastern Nag' which represents a small harbor.
