The Syrianmonastery was built by a group of Syrian monks, and the Monastery of Saint Bishoy was built in commemoration of a Christian saint. The exact date of the monasteries construction is unknown.

It has three entrances; one of them is at the northern side, the other at southern side and the third entrance at the middle of the western end of the church.
